Gifts for Military WivesTo honor the women who serve and stand beside their men as they serve, I went online to try to find gifts for military wives that would be appropriate for her to show her how I appreciated and acknowledge her service but nothing exciting came up. So I decided to once again take matters into my own hands, literally and create my own.
Anyone who knows me even remotely knows that my blood runs red, white and blue. My Dad was Air Force, my husband Army, my oldest daughter was a USAF nurse and my oldest son USAF JAG. My youngest son who has just finished college is now in the process of enlisting.
As proud as I am of them and their service, I think as a whole, society forgets about the brave and supportive family they leave behind when they are deployed. Well let me tell you about my hero….my son's wife, JoAnn. While my son was in Iraq, she was a real trooper, keeping the home fires burning with their three children under 4-years-old...what a handful.
As I thought what might be appropriate gifts for military wives I had to take into consideration that these women, more likely than not were forever on the move and as a results, didn’t like to collect too much stuff in the form of clutter. I thought that any Gifts for Military Wives would have to be functional as well as cute. And if not functional, then it had to be lightweight and easy to pack.
I started by drawing one of my trademarked Wonderful Wacky Women images and then wrote a touching story to go with it.
They are available as prints and, because these women are constantly on the go, I decided that gifts for military wives should also include Luggage/Bag tags. Not only are these tags great for luggage, they are great for baby strollers, scrapbook bags, computer briefcases and backpacks.
After talking to many military wives I quickly learned that if I was going to create a successful line of gifts for military wives, they were going to have to be branch specific.
