It time to rewrite the script.
While it is true that life is beginning to open up the whole landscape has changed. I sometimes feel like I was watching an episode of “I love Lucy” and now, suddenly the characters have changed and I’m faced to face with the monster in the sci fi movie, Aliens. And trust me when I say I really like the ” I love Lucy” version a whole lot better. But that was then and this is now. And we can’t go back.
The entire dialog has changed… and not for the better.
I’m done with all the downer rhetoric. I’m tired of all the negativity and hate. And despite everything I hear, I still believe that most people, at their core, are good. But they get caught up in the energy of the moment and get pushed along by the crowd until they are acting out in ways that are not only nonproductive but damaging as well. The minute they raise their voice in anger, throw a brick, or light a match they lose all respect in my book. (I’ve raised five kids and giving into the demands and tantrums of a two-year-old is not my style no matter how old the person is!)
It’s not about denial.
Let’s prove to the world that we will not buy into the rhetoric, fear, hate, panic and sensationalism that is being spewed at us. I’m not saying that we bury our head in the sand and pretend there are not really hard issues that need to be addressed. I’m saying we don’t argue about it, raise our voice, or support ANY violence or destruction of property.
We are not the same… we are different.
As Wonderful Wacky Women of Courage, Strength, Wisdom and Kindness, let’s be different than the rest of the world. The world has enough people who are mean, belligerent, crude, angry and violent. What the world needs is more kindness, love, listening and sincere communications.
Choose to not be nasty
Instead of arguing about wearing a mask or not wearing a mask, err on the side of caution and admit that there is chance you could be wrong. Instead of threatening to “unfriend” anyone who doesn’t believe in your political views, listen and have intelligent conversations. Seek out tender acts of kindness to give to strangers. And be kind to everyone. Let’s make a point to be twice as kind, twice as understanding and twice as calm.
As the Dali Lama said, “Be the change the world needs.”
Join me and make it a daily goal to chase away hatred and darkness and bring light and joy into the world. Let’s be the change. Start by doing one act of kindness for someone. Then let your acts multiply. Your actions could be as simple as calling someone to cheer them up or just be a listening ear. (I’ve found that when people vent, they really don’t need you to solve their problems, they just want you to listen.)
Don’t just be nice… Be Kind
Whether you help someone return their shopping cart, let someone ahead of you in line at the grocery store or take a moment to write a handwritten note to someone, simple acts of kindness have the power to change the world and in the process, illuminate your own. You will rise by lifting others and realize in a hot red minute that even though life is kinda messy right now, it can still be great.
Because there is truth in the words of this song… “Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me.”
